| Same course that I ran in 2003,but a whole bunch slower now. even ran the marathon in 04&05 at a better pace than this year, oh well I am old! Lots of hip killing camber here but still love the race and city and cause! |
| |
| Really well-organized race. Water stations every mile and a lot more fan support on the course than I expected. Overall, the course was nice with a good mix of flat spots and slighly rolling hills. |
| |
| Everything about this race was great. One of best I have been too.
| |
| Another PR! This was a well organized race, there were many volunteers, water stations with amenities at every mile, the course was beautiful, and the weather was very good for running. I highly recommend it. |
| |
| A beautiful course through the downtown, past the Mississippi River, and out to the city zoo. A gently rolling course, with aid stations at every mile and lots of runners. There was some gridlock in the first few miles. This year the weather was cool and clear-- perfect for the race. A very well organized race with excellent infrastructure. It was fun. |
| |
| Very touching. Great scenic run. Loved the nature smells and the finish line. Great people working the run. |
| |
| Great cause. Fun race. First year for shorts - the weather was great! |
| |
| It was a great day. |
| |
| I love everything about this race, except the food area congestion. Of course, I live nearby but it is still one of the nicest ones I have run. I try to do it every year. |
| |
| Great cause, many community persons supporting the runners and hospital. We had good weather, interesting minimally rolling course all around Memphis, good organization and food. |
| |
| AWSOME! Make sure you take the St. Judes tour. Course was beautiful, crowd was a kick, runners were fun. Dug the wave start. Even the cops were fun. Maybe it was the weather. Not my fastest, by far one of the funnest. |
| |
| Loved the race and the support was the best I have ever experienced. |
| |
| Nice weather with a good course combined to make a very enjoyable race. The course had enough undulations and direction changes to keep it interesting. |
| |
| My knees were acting up again. I am going to take a month off and start up again in the new year. I am going to train for a half again in April, maybe the Valpo Mini in Indiana. |
| |
| I did it!! I finally finished a half marathon in less than two hours. It hurt most of the way, but I am so glad I did it. Now I can relax and enjoy myself a little more during my half marathon races. |
| |
| This is a fun, fun, fun race. Lots of music and costumes for Elvis and Christmas. I will run it often. |
| |
| Ran it again. It's a nice course and great cause. They have marathon rates at the Peabody Hotel so staying there is a bonus. |
| |
| Set my PR. Easy to do with the support and cause. I'll be here every year! |
| |
| This was my second year to visit Memphis and enjoy the Southern Hospitality. This is a great races and the support is outstanding. We will return next year. |
| |
| Excellent race! Great organization at the start with corals by pace time - no crowding at the start or dodging walkers. Great views of the city, including a run up Beale Street. Even had Elvis singing on Beale Street. And it's all for a great cause. |
| |
| Great race! Lots of spectators. Scenic course. |
| |
| This is the best reason to run ever. I joined St. Judes Heros and helped raise some money for the families serviced by the hospital. The race was great, especially the food afterwards! |
| |
| This race was one of the most beautiful races I have ever done. The finish was so much fun, I felt like I was in the Olympics. Great town, great peiople. Even the sick little children were on the sidelines with their parents, very touching. |
| |
| It was a tough course, hillier than I had expected, but I had a good race. Really loved the city of Memphis. If it wasn't so expensive to fly from Dallas to Memphis, I'd consider doing it in 2006. |
| |
| enjoyed the run on an excellent city course. well worth the trip from northern cali to get ribs at rendevouz after the race. |
| |
| Memphis was such a wonderful experience! The course was great...it went through down town, the park, a neighborhood, and back on through to the stadium. Entertainment was good. Some of the signs made the run very emotional. You knew that you were running for a good cause. Running into the stadium and having them call out your name made for a great finish. The post race food and offerings were outstanding. Free massages were offered upstairs after the race. I can't say one negative thing about this race. I hope to make it a yearly tradition. |
| |
| I *LOVED* this race. Aside from being my 1/2 time PR, it was just so well organized. Fans were BRILLIANT, and finishing in the stadium was AWESOME. Oh, and the post-race area is sooooo well done. St. Jude's is a WONDERFUL charity. |
| |
| Good buzz! |
| |
| A very nice race, except the aprrox 3 miles on the left side of road with a severe crown. Great race though. |
| |
| This was by far my favorite half EVER! I would run this race every year if I could. Just knowing you are running to help sick children is enough to push yourself harder then you normally might. I shed many tears while running this race; it was very humbling. EVERYONE should run this race at least once in their running career! |
| |
| I love this race!!! Great fan support, and wonderful cause. Makes you feel great--runner's high on top of helping children. And beer at the end, which always gets my stamp of approval. |
| |
| This is a very well organized race and supports such a good cause. There's good entertainment on the course |
| |
| This was a fun race with many great Memphis sites along the course. There was good crowd support and water stops every mile. The last few miles were on a four lane road that sloped towards the curb which provided an uncomfortable running surface. The race finished in Autozone Baseball Park with a good crowd that made a collective 'OOOHHH' as I crashed into a heap just over the finish line. Great race in a great city. Be sure to hit up Rendevous Barbeque to make the experience complete.

| |
| Great food at the finish- Krispy Kream donuts, hot soup, pizza, cokkes, and beer. Weather was great with a coyrse with dsome good views.
| |
| Great race. I almost gave out at 10 miles but I made.
Food was wonderful and the weather was pretty good for walk/run. |
| |
(2005) Running along the riverfront and down Beale Street was exciting! There was one neighborhood we ran through that was all tree-lined streets, and running through the Arboretum was very pretty, but the roads were slippery due to rain the night before and the streets slanted, making it uneven to run on. It did not help that my boyfriend and I only got a couple of hours of sleep the night before, (our trip down from Chicago was boring and longer than it needed to be, to say the least!)but I managed to get the exact same time (1:38:04) as I did in Chicago in ’04! Not my best, but consistent! Finishing in Autozone Park was great and the hot soup and cool long-sleeved T-shirts made up for any discomfort from the cold wind. http://www.stjudemarathon.org/ViewResults.cfm?Race=HalfMarathonAgeGroup&year=2005

| Downtown Memphis was very nice, small but it has a really nice feel to it, almost in a bright lights-big city kind of way. There seemed to be water and powerade at every mile mark. This by far has been the best water and powerade staffed half marathon that I have ever ran. The food and beverages afterwards at the stadium were also outstanding. You really felt like this was a big event and that the half marathon was catered to more like a full marathon. The Expo was on the smaller side, which was expected. The packet pickup was also a class act just as the refreshments at the end of the race were. I would definitely run this one again. littlerunaway55 and I hit some bad weather on the commute back to Motown around the Cincinatti area, which forced us to spend the night there, but we made it back safely. |
| |
Well organized race and lots of fun -- I even set a PR, which
definitely made it worth it flying from the West Coast! Perfect running
weather -- I like it cold! Water/Powerade at each mile along with
clocks. Course was flat in most spots and slightly rolling hills
in others, which made for a nice variety. Running through Overton Park
was especially nice. Finishing in the ball park was great, and
the post race food was well done. Post race beer/ribs at
Rendezvous/Beale Street was fun -- it helped that I stayed at the
Peabody, which was close to everything.

| I ran this race Dec. 3, 2005. Everything was fantastic. |
| |
| The dynamic duo of Zoomscott and myself once again journeyed for another half marathon in Memphis. This is probably one of the coolest halfs I have done. We got to tour the famous Beale St.. The weather was not as nice as we had hoped, but still 50's and overcast which still beats our Michigan weather this time of year. I was still able to wear shorts and t shirt. We passed many major landmarks of Memphis along the course and aid stations at every mile. The t shirt, medal, packet goodies and post race refreshments were among the best I have encountered. The finish line was at Auto Zone Park. I was able to have a picture taken of myself with medal and number with the Elvis impersonators. Can't wait to see the pictures and order some. There was varying styles of music along the course. Our drive back was a little more treacherous as we hit rain, sleet, and snow heading north on the way back, but all in all it was an enjoyable weekend | |
| |
i ran this on 04/30/05. It was my best half marathon ever.
| |
| This is a great race for a very good cause. |
| |
| The crowd support was great, the weather nearly perfect, the post-race food abundant and varied, organization was great and there was lots of loot in the goodie bag. |
| |
| I ran this race in 2004. The race organization and the cause were incredible. Spending some time in Graceland and on Beale Street rounded out the weekend nicely |
| |
| Awesome cause to run for, seeing the kids out in front of the St. Judes really makes you go. Great course support by Rhodes and in the park. The pink ladies put on a great show every year. You finish in the new minor league baseball park on the warning track. Easy course for spectators to see you in a couple of spots (if you know Memphis). |
| |
| Good course, Nice support, liked the aid station the the Memphis City Fire Department handled. (Big American Flag) |

| |
| My first half! It was great. It's for a great cause and there are LOTS of volunteers - most have been touched in some way by St Judes Hospital. |
| |
| I like running through the zoo. I don't like running next to the traffic. |
| |
| I ran this race in 2004. It has been the highlight of the runs I've done. The course was beautiful; the crowd support and the cause were inspirational. |

The weather was great, and the support from the community was awesome. The most heart-wrenching part was when I passed a child that was at St. Judes for cancer treatment, and her parents where they were seated on the course. The parents were standing there thanking everyone that went by. That moment alone, paid for the entire trip.

| Good buzz! |
| |
| I like Memphis (ribs!) Really a good course that runs by all of the cities highlights. I have raced the half in 2003 and the full marathon in 2004. 2005 race is on my birthday, so that will be my gift to me ! |
| |
| Good buzz! |
| |
| My 2nd half ever. Didn't end up in the medical tent, so all is great. |
