| Glad to get another state crossed off my list. |
| |
| great scenery, SUPER finish at BRATFEST - best way to finish a race, lines for actual race food were really long and if you were a marathoner - almost impossible to get waiting for the halfer and 1/4 marathoners. |
| |
| Plenty of water stops. Brat Fest finish was fun. Shuttle service from Alliant Energy Center well organized. Nice course without too many hills. |
| |
| Good course, well organized, weather great, nice community to visit. Having the marathon course join the half around mile 6 was not to much fun with the elites meeting the halfers on a narrow walking trail could be changed. Finishing at the Brat fest was nice. |
| |
| Nice weather, nice city. The course was a bit tougher than I expected. I was not crazy about the full marathoners coming on and off the course at various points during the run - some elite dillweed that was several minutes behind the leaders gave me a good elbow during the race even though I was on the far right side of the road! |
| |
| Well run race, and a great course. njoyed eating Brats. |
| |
| A well run race in a great city with a nice rolling course. Ending at Brat Fest was a lot of fun. Only complaint was the stunningly long line for snacks afterward.
| |
| Nice run. |
| |
| Very scenic rolling, course includes start at the capitol, lakeside, wooded bike trails, UW campus, and historic homes areas. World's greatest bratfest was fun. Madison is a great city to visit. |
| |
| Small well organized event. Half outnumbered full 2 to 1 as in many races nowadays. No major hills but not smooth either. Nice finish atmosphere with 6K/10K finishers at the finish area to cheer you on plus Brat Fest right there as well. |

| * Awesome run! This year I ran with the 2:00 pace team. It was challenging at times but I ran through mile 11 then went out on my own. |
| |
| It was a really nice course. The spectators and volunteers were great. I will say it was really really hot and humid. I was just happy to finish. |
| |
| A little hilly but not intolerable. Ditto on the weather comments. It was HOT! Enjoyable, though, and Madison was beautiful (it was my first visit). The end of the race was a little disorganized and food was disappointing. It ended at BratFest but who carries money when running? They should add free brats and beer to the finish line offerings! |
| |
| I agree with all the other posts --- VERY hot; time was 10 minutes slower than I wanted but overall, a GREAT course and city!!! Even though I have now officially logged WI - I will definitely make this an annual event. Soooo much fun! Took my family --- lots of fun things to do - horse show, Brat fest, the zoo, botanical gardens. Overall, a very fun holiday weekend. The race was very well run - plenty of water/gateraid stops. |
| |
| This was a great race with nice views and difficult, hilly terrain. It was very hot with intense sunlight that took its toll on myself and many other runners.

| What a difference a week makes! Last week I ran in Rockford with temperatures in the 50's, this week in Madison with temperatures in the 80's. Needless to say, this week was slower! It was so hot in Madison (90 by noon), that they closed the marathon course around noon and called off the rest of the race. The city of Madison is a great city, the state capital, home of UofW, surrounded by lakes and running paths. The Mad City race calendar includes a 5K, a 10K, a half and a full marathon - all well organized and well attended...about 5,000 participants in all. The 1/2 is run through a combination of trails along the lakes, residential streets and campus road. The lakes provide great views and the neighborhoods provide great crowd support. Afterwards the race finishes in a huge complex (Alliant Energy Center...state fairgrounds?) that was also hosting the World Bratwurst Festival...lots of food and beer! This is an excellent choice for your Wisconsin half marathon! |

| Ran this one (2006). Was quite hot this year! But, overall, was beautiful course and grateful for the neighborhoods that offered hoses and support. Saw a man juggling the marathon, that was pretty neat. Wasn't prepared for the Brat Fest that also was going on, it was quite busy finish line and parking. We couldn't find the showers, although they did say that they had some. And, they ran out of medals when I got there because of 600 people that registered that morning! But, overall, pretty good. |
| |
| I was very (unusually) warm in 2006, by about 20 degrees. The shuttle buses were well organized on race day. A large number (rumored at 600) people were still registering very close to the race. There was a vote and hopefully they won't let that go on again. Races were delayed by five minutes. The course was scenic; through the nice town and around the lake. Many spectators were generously at the ready with their water hoses to help with the heat. They either left them running or would ask if you would like a quick spritz. Quite thoughtful on several counts... Thanks citizens of Madison!!! |

| (2006) This was my 10th state! Pretty course, with lots of short, steep hills. Highlights: It starts by the capital, you get some pretty views of the lakes, and the UW campus...It was VERY hot (90ish), which caused it to be slow, and the water stops were crowded with not enough volunteers...lots of people had sprinklers out and were spraying people with hoses which was MUCH appreciated! This race was more than 10 min slower than my best, and 8 min slower than my prior slowest, but I still managed to get 4 / 285 in my age group (probably due to heat!). It was well organized and Madison is cute, but fot he most part, the heat made it all a blur.

| This is my favorite WI road course. I love the variety of scenery. Great crowd support. The last time I ran this race was May 29, 2005. |
| |
| Mostly urban run. The spectators were great and all the kids want to high five you along the run. |
| |

| |
| This 1/2 marathon was an interesting course to run, it had a little bit of everything. A Couple of rolling hills, plenty of miles on bike paths and dirt trails, some concrete, and a pedestrian bridge. I had a good run and took first of 14 in my age group with a time of l:45. |
| |
| What a beautiful city Madison is! Nice race. My only complaints are that they need more port-a-potties and they ran out of medals before I finished. :( |
| |
| Great day, overcast and mild temperatures. Lots of water stations. Expo was disappointing. |
| |
| The weather was perfect and the course was very scenic. There were a few more hills than I had anticipated but all in all the people running it did a great job and we're always appreciative of the work the volunteers and the local police do. |
| |
| Ran this in '99 as my first half marathon. It was very hot that day and so a lot of marathoners dropped to the half. As a result they had to mail our medals to us later. Nice course with lots of variety. |
| |
| RAINY, but good. My first one !!
(2004) |
| |
| Ran it in 2004. Good race. Very small expo and finish line celebration. |
| |
| This was a marathon run, and this is a marathon time. *my first marathon. |
| |
| Very scenic. Kind of cool, but nice. |
| |
| very nice race throught the campus, zoo and views of the lakes |
